Following suit of Uma's debut single 'Astronaut', her follow-up 'Standing in the Sun' uses soft instruments and organic production. The folk-inspired song-writer is releasing her music via London's indie label SLOW DANCE. Plucked acoustic guitar and vocals are at the heart of the new single, creating a gentle space roots in folk. Production techniques are minimal and purposeful, adding a splash of ambient delay here and there, and an additional Spanish-style guitar that glimmers like a sunlit stream. Uma's vocals are melancholic, but optimistic as she sings "my heart's all bruised by the thought of you but I'm standing in the sun". 'Standing in the Sun' expands into something more jaunty, with the addition of gentle percussion and sunny brass parts, adding an optimistic outlook.
